Ms. Rita Flores
50 years dedicated to teaching reading and writing as a tool for empowering people and preserving Hispanic culture.
Educating, writing, and helping are her two great passions.
During her teaching career, Rita Socorro earned her elementary school teaching degree in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, where she worked for 10 years. In Los Angeles, California, she worked as a teacher's assistant, librarian, preschool teacher, and religious education director, all over a period of 35 years. Throughout her teaching experience, she recognized the need for an easy and quick method to teach reading in the United States, whether in bilingual immersion or dual language programs in elementary schools or in adult literacy programs.
Today, she lives in Lakewood, California, with her beloved husband, to whom she has been married for 54 years. She has six adult children and eight grandchildren. They all reside in Southern California and gather regularly for special family events and celebrations.
Currently, Rita Socorro is embarking on her writing career to share her life lessons and wisdom as a teacher and grandmother. She has always found joy in helping others and is proud to see her children also finding joy in helping others in any way they can. She aspires to inspire people by writing books, developing educational materials, and sharing her knowledge, creating meaningful opportunities for students and educators to grow in literacy and cultural appreciation.
